Springwidgets: Easy but Unloved

|

I put together a very simple widget using Springwidgets yesterday. You can the result of my efforts here.

I like the product - it was easy to use and I am sure that the SDK would let the more technically-minded accomplish more polished results. Further, the results look great.

The unique part of the Springwidget's application seems to be that the widgets work from both a webpage and the desktop. It's a probably clever piece of coding but I don't understand the value. Both Firefox and IE are tabbed browsers so I can easily have my webmail, my RSS news reader and several other web pages open in one browser. I tend to navigate between applications with keyboard commands so I never see my desktop except when I am starting up or shutting down my computer.

So, I like it but I won't use it.
